  • Dates: Mar. 11 - Apr. 1
  • Times: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
  • Length: 4 weeks
  • Cost: $90

Minecraft is a simple game about digging and building, but what if you decided you wanted to make your own game in Minecraft? By combining all the tools of redstone engineering and command blocks with insight into game rules and structure, students can make their very own games, from a Capture the Flag stadium to a replica of their favorite board game! Students will work together to build their game world, so when the class ends, they will be able to share their games with their friends and family.

  • Tuesday

    • Times: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
    • Length: 4 weeks
    • Cost: $90

Have you ever embarked on an adventure in Minecraft, fraught with puzzles and danger? Perhaps you've wanted to design your own adventure instead, and pit players against gauntlets of monsters through winding labyrinths. In Adventurecraft Junior, we will help campers to create their own mysteries for their friends to explore and teach some tips and tricks to make any normal room contain a monarch's hoard of secrets.

  • Thursday

Blockify It! Old World Architecture in Minecraft (ages 7-9)

    • Times: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
    • Length: 4 weeks
    • Cost: $90

Using real-world buildings and landmarks, students will improve their building skills by determining what makes different styles of buildings unique. One week we may be constructing the stone-wrought walls of medieval castles, the next we could be recreating the great pyramids at Giza. As we travel the world, students will amass a small collection of wonders, which will be sent home in an email when the class concludes.

  • Friday

Insight to Electricity: Mini Van de Graaff Generator (ages 10-14)

    • Times: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
    • Length: 4 weeks
    • Cost: $90

Learn about electricity hands-on by building your very own Van de Graaff generator. This is a device that creates an electric charge through induction - meaning that unlike static electricity, it charges without any of its moving parts touching! Join us as we learn about how this generator works to generate electricity, as well as how to build your very own. Once the generators are built, students can power them up, take them home, and watch the sparks fly.

No following instructions here! While our club time will be mostly student-directed, we will focus the builds on specific design themes each week. Each theme is meant to provide context for students to make some design considerations given a few constraints, while keeping to their creative vision. One week, we might ask students to create animals and their habitat if they lived on Mars. Another week, we might introduce an artist like M.C. Escher and ask students to create a Lego build inspired by his illusionist art work. Every session is sure to be a creative blast!

  • Wednesday

Blockify It! Animals and Mythical Creatures (ages 8-12)

  • Dates: May 8 - 29
    • Times: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
    • Length: 4 weeks
    • Cost: $90

Have you ever seen a stone lion in front of a building or a gargoyle looking down from a roof and wanted to make your own for your Minecraft worlds? In this version of Blockify It!, students will look at mythical creatures and real animals, identify their key features, and recreate them in Minecraft!

  • Thursday

  • Dates: May 9 - 30
    • Times: 4:00 - 5:30 PM
    • Length: 4 weeks
    • Cost: $90

Using Scratch, a programming language developed by MIT, our campers will learn and expand their programming skills by creating their own simulation. Specifically created to mirror the command structure of languages such as python and C, Scratch helps kids write their own code with a simple layout and techniques that can be easily grasped by both newcomers and veterans. In this class, students will create a simulation of an anthill to expand their knowledge of autonomous decision-making, cloning, and easily coding multiple sprites.

  • Friday

  • Cost: $25

Calling all builders, planners and fighters! A massive Blaze outbreak has been sighted in Minecraft, and it's up to you to build defenses to keep them at bay! The only problem is that Blazes tend to light things on fire, so you'll have to build out of ice to keep things cool. Attendees will be using Minecraft Creative mode to build a fortress entirely out of ice, but be warned - after the allotted build time, a horde of Blazes will arrive to test your frozen defenses. Can you take the heat, or will your defenses melt like a hot knife through butter?
