  • Morning Classes (March - April)

Paper Quilling

  • Day: Wednesdays
  • Dates: March 21 - April 11 (4 weeks)
  • Times: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Cost: $75

This paper quilling class will teach you how to get started with forming shapes by curling, twisting, and folding paper that are then used as details in a larger design. Projects tend to be colorful, lighthearted, and admired by all!

Hand Lettering

  • Day: Fridays
  • Dates: March 23 - April 13 (4 weeks)
  • Times: 10:30 AM- 12:00 PM
  • Cost: $75

Hand lettering is the art of drawing letters! This class will focus on using different lettering techniques and embellishments to create the simplest to most sophisticated signs and cards. Each class will build on the previous one and allow students to take home completed projects and practice worksheets. It is meant for the beginner or those wishing to improve on their skills.

Origami for Mindful Mornings

  • Day: Wednesdays
  • Dates: May 9 - 30 (4 weeks)
  • Times: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Mindfulness is known to increase healthly and positive living while also enhancing your creativity throughout the day. In our origami series we will learn 4 different projects that slow us down from our busy lives and give us quirky edge on decorating and gift giving! We will make origami flower arrangements, gift boxes, crane earrings, and country-living stars.

Zentangles

  • Day: Fridays
  • Dates: May 11 - June 1 (4 weeks)
  • Times: 10:30 AM- 12:00 PM
  • Cost: $75

Relax and unleash your inner doodler. This class is perfect for keeping your hands and mind busy while talking on the phone, or watching your favorite NetFlix series. This art form is based on geometric and organic designs that can be learned through step by step demonstrations and on your own. We will have drawing aids and examples to help even the most beginner level artist be successful. Take home projects will include themed motifs that can be hung as wall art, or photocopied for greeting cards.



  • March Workshop Series: Paper Quilling

Learn the historic art form of decorative paper curling of Renaissance-era monks. Today, paper quilling is a popular craft with dynamic results! We will learn how to make 2-D and 3-D projects using only colorful paper strips and glue! Projects include earrings, sculpture, or a picture for framing.

  • 3/14: Easter Cards — Designing thoughtful Easter motifs for cards has never been more fun than with paper quilling! These cards will want to be saved for seasonal decoration and truly be appreciated by any recipient.
  • 3/21: Earrings — Join us as we create clever paper quilled earrings. (Think Vera Bradley, but out of paper!) Our earrings will be completed with either sterling silver hooks or studs so even sensitive ears can wear them as soon as they dry.
  • 3/28: Spring Floral Motifs — Learn the art of paper quilling with a floral motif. These designs will be blooming with spring blossoms and butterflies and will make great wall art when completed.

  • 4/3: The Basics— Learn techniques for upstrokes and downstrokes on faux calligraphy using brush tip Tom Bow and Crayola markers. Practice a couple sample alphabets and create a take home sign!
  • 4/10: Watercolor — Think you have mastered the upstroke and downstroke to script fonts? Then it's time to up your game to watercolor. The watercolor brush adds loose color that blends and creates gorgeous gradients in your signs. This class is good for all levels.
  • 4/17: Greeting Cards — Let's discuss layouts and design while having some fun with font styles as we create unique greeting cards together!

Doodling is more than something you do during meetings and while you’re on hold during a phone call. Your doodles are a door into your inner subconscious. What can you learn about yourself through your doodles? This month's theme will discover your ID, or your Inner Doodler, and turn your creativity into framable art, using simple Zentangle and illustration techniques. We will also have step by step demonstrations and directions for creating basic - challenging design patterns.

  • 5/17: Fabric Aprons — Using white canvas aprons we will draw our personal designs or supplied designs and then stylized them with zentangle patterns! **This session requires an additional material fee of $4, for a total single session price of $29.
  • 5/24: Watercolor — Create fun and whimsical illustrations detailed with zentangle patterns and enhanced with watercolor. Learn basic watercolor techniques and color theory.

All courses are subject to cancellation, should a minimum enrollment not be met. There are no refunds or reductions once a participant is registered for any reason, unless The Painted Turtle Art Studio cancels a course, whereupon all participants will be informed in advance and payment will be refunded.
