2018 Summer Art Camps

Our summer day camps offer fun learning experiences for 6 to 14 year-old campers, as we get the creative juices flowing with innovative art projects.

All summer camps require campers to bring a packed lunch, snacks, a refillable water bottle, and bug spray. Campers will be provided frequent outdoor activity breaks and a morning snack break, lunch break, and afternoon snack break throughout the course of each day.


    • Mask Making & Sculpture Design

    • Ages 8-12
    • Dates: June 18-22
    • Hours: 9 am - 4 pm

    This is an intensive art camp for those interested in getting their hands messy! We will be making plaster masks, and learning about abstract art as we design our own sculptures indoors and outdoors. There will be light theater improv games and short hikes on local Dunstable Conservation land, abutting our campus.

    • 3A's: Literary Arts, Fine Arts, & Theater Arts

    Author Maurice Sendak, writer of Where the Wild Things Are, is our inspiration this week! We will read a new book by Sendak each day and create mixed-media arts and crafts project in the morning. Our afternoons will be spent playing theater improv games and creating our own mini skits in the woods. Skills covered in language and reading, theater performance, fine arts, & recreation.

    Our full day of art camp has never been so packed with interesting art mediums and techniques! Our morning will be spent taking nature walks to the barn or lake to draw from life. Students will learn basic drawing skills to feel more confident drawing 3-D forms and landscapes. We will also save time to make nature inspired crafts outdoors in the woods as well as take home projects. Later in the day we will learn the ins-&-outs of basic photography compositions and digital imaging using the Kindle Fire. Students are welcome to bring in their own tablets or phone cameras (under their care), but must be able to download editing apps.

    Learn how to use jewelry tools to work wires into beautiful charms and sculptures. We will use a mix of glass beads to create fancy necklaces, DIY bracelets, and dangly clip-on or stud earrings. For the second part of our day we will become duct tape fashionistas and explore projects from wallets to wearable dress up paper clothing. We will break to play outdoor cooperative games and take nature walks to the local pond.

    • Game Design & Concept Art

    Munchkin, MAGIC: the Gathering, and other card games will be explored for game design basics, rules, and strategies. We will look at the cards’ concept art and learn about different illustration styles as well as dynamic compositional tone. The morning will be used for painting and drawing our own illustrations, and the afternoon will be for making our own multiplayer card games. Skills covered include written and verbal communication, visual design and drawing, game planning, strategy and tactics, and balance. We will take several breaks to play cooperative outdoor games, explore the woods, and have water balloon relay races.

    • Art Explorations

    This camp is perfect for kids who love art, or just want to try it all. Each day we will be working on a new project and exploring a different art medium such as painting, drawing, origami, fiber, jewelry craft, and more! This camp also allows kids to practice fine motor skills through fun craft projects. Our projects will incorporate The Nature of Things campus, so we will find inspiration for our drawing subjects at the barn and do an outdoor art project by the pond. We will take several breaks to play cooperative outdoor games, explore the woods, and have water relay races.

    • Cardboard Engineering Quest

    • Ages 7-9 and 10-14

    Step into another world as your wits are put to the test! This is a comprehensive STEAM adventure, during which we will be teaming up with The Enrichment Center's Brainwave Camp. Campers will build their 21st Century skills in this engineering and science camp, and no STEAM stone will be left unturned as we reclaim the forest from an evil overlord and his minions. We will come together to collaborate on customizing flags, as well as design and build structures from the finest cardboard in the land! Recess breaks will include cooperative team building games and waterballoon relay races.

    2-Week Pro Camp (ages 10-14)
    • Dates: July 30 - August 10*
    • Hours: 9 am - 4 pm
    • Pricing: $650

    For campers in the 10-14 age range, there is a second week to this camp with TEC Brainwave, which is more heavily focused on science and engineering activities and challenges. Campers will participate in all of the week 1 activities listed above before moving onto the second half of this two-week program. We will embark on adventures that will challenge our scientific, engineering, creative, and physical abilities. Clues will be presented that will require interpretation and decryption, as well as problems that will require campers to collaborate, research, design, and build solutions. Teams will have to outwit each other in order to be the one to reclaim the forest. At the end of this two-week adventure, we will celebrate the victors with a party!

    Enrichment STEAM Camps & Courses
    • Video Production for Green Screen Technology & Puppetry Design

    • Ages 10-14
    • Dates: August 6-10
    • Hours: 9 am - 4 pm
    • Pricing: $320

    Summer camp has never been so engaging and creative! Our time will be split between hands-on crafting of characters and learning how to edit green screen films. There will be art-intensive time to make papier-mâché rod puppets (skills learned will be light sewing, sculpting, and crafting). Next, we will develop a short script for mini webisodes and practice puppetry movements. Campers will suit up in authentic green screen suits and act out their skits in front of the green screen, then learn how to edit their films in Adobe Premiere Pro. Campers will get to take copies of their videos home with them at the end of this fun-filled week during which we will have built self-confidence and developed public speaking skills. During breaks, we will enjoy playing cooperative games in the woods, taking nature walks to the pond, and playing water balloon relay races!

    • Painting on Canvas & Graffiti Art

    Love to or want to explore your art skills? If yes, then this class if for you! Students will learn from painting simple projects each day that encourages a different paint style, explaining the elements and principles of art. Students will discover their inner graffiti artist as we define our identities visually with our individual tags. We will learn font design and practice with chalk on sidewalks and permanent markers on paper. Breaks and recess will be outside playing waterballoon relay races, cooperative games, and taking nature walks to the pond.

    One part creation, one part production, all parts fun! For this STEAM camp, we will be teaming up with The Enrichment Center's Brainwave Camp. Using any materials on hand (e.g., LEGO or clay), campers will combine their power of storytelling with image-capture technology. They will create videos in which their creations interact with each other through the power of stop-motion animation. Instructors will help campers develop short storyboards, set up the video camera, and use the animation software. At the end of class, we will email campers their videos. Develop all your STEAM skills as you produce a visual masterpiece.

    Enrichment STEAM Camps & Courses

All camps are subject to cancellation, should a minimum enrollment not be met. There are no refunds or reductions once a participant is registered for any reason, unless The Painted Turtle Art Studio cancels a camp, whereupon all participants will be informed in advance and payment will be refunded.

Registration Fee & Forms

A once-annual, non-refundable $25.00 registration fee is due at the time of registration. Discounts do not apply to the registration fee. To register, all campers must submit the following paperwork:

  • Registration form
  • Signed Camper Conduct Agreement (pg. 3 of Registration Form)
  • Physician’s Well-child Physical Form (from pediatrician)
  • Current immunization records (from pediatrician)

Before/After Care

  • Times: 7:30am-9:00am / 4:00-6:00pm
  • Pricing: $75 additional per week

Discounts do not apply to before/after care.


  • Summer 2018 Discounts & Credits

Early registration: Register and PAY IN FULL for 1 or more weeks by March 31, 2018 and receive 5% off of camp rates. Any additional weeks added after March 31st are not subject to the discount. This discount is not to be combined with any other discount and only applies to a summer of 2018 Painted Turtle Camp.

Sibling Discount: If enrolling 2 or more siblings, full price must be paid for the 1st child and a 5% discount per additional child may be applied for up to 2 siblings thereafter for a camp of equal or lesser value, within the same summer. This discount is not to be combined with any other discount and only applies to a summer of 2018 Enrichment Center (Brainwave/Painted Turtle) Camp.

Refer-a-New-Friend Credit: For each new friend you refer to a 2018 Enrichment Center Summer Camp (Brainwave or Painted Turtle) who enrolls, you will receive a credit of $30 off of a future Enrichment Center program of your choosing. This credit only applies to referrals who have not previously participated in any of The Enrichment Center/The Painted Turtle's programs. This credit expires after one calendar year from date of referral.
