About the Role
The Nature of Things, LLC seeks a full-time custodian to fulfill cleaning and maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming carpets, cleaning, and restocking restrooms on a small private school campus (2nd Nature Academy) before moving to a secondary restaurant location (Rambling House Food & Gathering). Work week is Tuesday-Saturday. Work hours must begin in the late afternoon/early evening and wrap up in the early morning hours after an 8-hour shift + 30-minute break, with flexibility. Must have reliable transportation to move between locations.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
Operate large cleaning equipment and assist with floor maintenance and restoration as needed.
Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies including floor scrubber and buffer.
Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on requirements.
Performs minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
May assist or perform snow removal to keep egresses clear.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Provide high level customer service for school events and community activities including set-up/clean-up.
Perform special cleaning and assist with renovation projects.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
Ensure proper use, identification, mixing and application of chemicals, including the requirements and use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Monitor and inspect building facility for safety and cleanliness.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
